Inpatient Clinical Nutrition Services
Registered Dietitians (RDs) from Clinical Nutrition Services work in every UAMS medical unit
to meet the nutritional needs of patients of all ages receiving inpatient treatment.
Our expert Registered Dietitians (RDs) help patients treated outside of UAMS to meet their
health and nutrition goals through diet and lifestyle changes.
The UAMS Milk Lab fortifies donated human milk for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
to meet the nutritional needs of early, high-risk, low birth weight infants and acutely ill
full-term newborns.
Within our large, multidisciplinary nutrition department, our registered dietitians (RDs) are
leaders in the field of dietetics and experts in nutrition. Many of them maintain advanced
certification in nutrition support, diabetes management, oncology, weight management and geriatrics.
They follow
Medical Nutrition Therapy
(MNT) guidelines to provide comprehensive and individualized care to improve patient health
and quality of life. MNT includes nutrition assessments, planning and implementing nutrition
interventions with evidence-based nutrition guidelines and careful monitoring of each patient's
progress over time.
Inpatient Clinical Nutrition Services
