Workplace Violence Prevention Training

The Workplace Violence Prevention program makes training available to all new UAMS clinical ICE employees. During their first 30 days of employment, they must complete these courses in Workday:

UAMS Safety Overview when hired
UAMS Safety Review at 14 days on the job
UAMS Safety Deep Dive at 30 days

ICE employees must also complete Annual Workplace Violence Refresher training. Some employees also take the live UAMS Workplace Violence Tier III training.

Refresher Training Videos

These videos are not part of formal workplace violence prevention training. We post them here so anyone can refresh their knowledge on how to protect themselves.

Learn how to de-escalate a situation by moderating the tone of your voice, your body stance and showing outstretched hands with the palms facing out.

Assess the risk of approaching at 10 feet, 5 feet and 2 feet and plan an escape route at each stage.

From a sitting position, protect and cover your face and head from an attacker with your arms.

With both hands and a spin move, make an attacker release you from a choke hold from the front.

Use both hands and a powerful spin move to escape from an attacker who grabs you by the wrist.
