The Police Department is the official law enforcement agency for UAMS. In addition to our law enforcement duties,
we can provide escorts and help with some vehicle problems.
We provide comprehensive police services to patients, visitors, and staff around the clock, 7 days a week.
The Police Department is one of the largest higher education law enforcement agencies in the state.
All of our officers are certified by the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training. They
have full police powers on property that UAMS owns or leases and are fully-authorized to enforce all Arkansas laws.
If no one answers, please leave a message. We will contact you to schedule an appointment
during normal business hours Monday – Friday.
When you come to your appointment, please bring:
$25 in cash (we cannot accept checks or credit cards)
A valid state identification card such as a driver's license
Two FD-258 fingerprint cards
In most cases, the licensing authority or person asking you for fingerprints will supply
cards. If not, we can provide them.
Patient-Prisoner Policy
When law enforcement agencies bring prisoner-patients to UAMS or the State Hospital for treatment, the UAMS
PD works with them to ensure prisoner-patients are guarded and escorted according to the
Police Agencies Guarding Prisoner-Patients policy.
Guards, or sworn officers from agencies other than the UAMS PD, must accompany prisoner-patients at all times.
The policy describes expectations for agencies with prisoner-patients in their custody at UAMS, including:
How to check in, which depends on whether the prisoner-patients are inpatients or outpatients and where
they are being treated
