The UAMS Stocked & Reddie Food Pantry opened in July 2019. The seeds of this project were planted when a 2018 survey
identified food security issues among some UAMS students, and it was later discovered to be a problem faced by some
employees as well.
Stocked & Reddie now serves UAMS employees and students as well as employees from Arkansas Children’s. About 250 members shop
every time the pantry is open.
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, UAMS supported Stocked & Reddie families through furloughs, primary or secondary job losses
in their household, and quarantine or isolation as a safe and supportive resource.
Since opening, Stocked & Reddie has distributed nearly 700,000 meals. We have students, members, and others that volunteer
in the pantry often.
Our Mission
The Stocked & Reddie Food Pantry provides nutritious food to UAMS and Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH) employees
and UAMS students who may have difficulty obtaining fresh produce and balanced meals for themselves and their families.
Members of Team UAMS and ACH employees who join Stocked & Reddie can shop twice a week. Each member may take enough
food to supplement up to three meals for their household. Recipes are often available at the pantry, and we encourage
members to share their favorites.
This lively alternative food pantry empowers all our members to cooperate and participate in its operation.
