Our Cybersecurity and Security Administration teams protect computer systems, networks and data from
cyberattacks and unauthorized access.
Information Security
We are the first line of defense for UAMS’s computer systems, networks and data, employing security
applications and support to ensure only authorized users gain access.
We support UAMS’s mission through secure, resilient technology that protects information assets. IT Security:
Ensures the confidentiality integrity and availability of systems and data
Proactively manages cyber risks
Promotes security awareness
Enables research, education and patient care to occur in a secure and trusted environment
Reporting and Help with Information Security Incidents
If you suspect a security incident, such as compromised credentials, phishing, malware or a data breach,
has occurred, please report it immediately:
Submit a ServiceNow ticket and describe the situation or suspicious email
Because UAMS is a covered entity under HIPAA, IT Security works closely with the UAMS HIPAA
Compliance Office to ensure alignment among regulatory, operational and technical security controls.
At times, following a security standard may conflict with essential, mission-critical operations.
For instance, while Windows security updates are automatically deployed across the network, the
timing of an update could interrupt critical research activities or patient care functions on a
Windows device.
To request an exemption from a security standard for one or more devices, submit a request in the
Security Exemption Manager.
It is our tool for recording, reviewing and approving or disapproving such requests.
