The Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) works closely with Safety Awareness for Employees (SAFE) coordinators, safety committees, administrators and faculty to ensure the health and safety of UAMS employees and everyone at UAMS facilities.

Our Mission

• To make UAMS a safe and environmentally responsible facility for patients, faculty, staff, students and the public.
• To improve and protect the health and safety of employees, patients, visitors, students and the surrounding environment by identifying workplace hazards and developing appropriate control measures.

Our Primary Services

• EH&S oversees employee safety, environmental compliance and safety training programs.
• We offer safety training in fire, proper lifting/back safety, blood-borne pathogens, chemical hygiene, laboratory safety, radiation safety, respiration safety, waste handling and disposal and workstation ergonomics.
