| General Visiting Hours
UAMS Medical Center recognizes that visits are good for a
patient’s therapy, and we encourage family members and friends to
visit patients. General visiting hours are 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
unless otherwise specified. Children under 12 years of age are not
allowed above the first floor, except as specified. If you have questions
about the number of visitors permitted or visiting hours, please check
with your nurse.
Calling Patients
To direct dial a patient room, call 1-501-614-2 and the room number. If calling locally from Little Rock, dial 614-2 and the room number. Patient room phones are turned off from inbound calls after visiting hours, which are betwen 9 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.
If placing a call from a patient phone, long distance calls are not permitted without using a calling card or calling collect.
Intensive Care
The Medical, Surgical, and Neuro Intensive Care Units are
located on the 4th floor, Unit 4E, of the Harry P. Ward Bed Tower.
The intensive care suites are equipped with state-of-the-art technology
and resources that support and enhance our ability to provide intensive
one-on-one patient care to critically ill patients. The ICU Hostess
is available to assist in facilitating communication between patient
care staff, patients, and their family members. The ICU Hostess
monitors the ICU Family Waiting Areas to ensure that family members
are comfortable and their needs are being met.
Visiting Hours for these
Intensive Care Units are:
9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
8:00 - 10:00 p.m.
These times have been
chosen not only to allow the nurses time to assess and care for
the patients, but also to give family members time to eat, rest,
and have breaks away from the hospital. If these times conflict
with your work schedule or you have other commitments, please speak
with the nurse; a visiting contract can be designed to meet your
needs.
We ask that visitors be
limited to two people at a time. Visitors will not be allowed in
during procedures, nursing report, or during an emergency situation.
Children under the age of fourteen may visit only after consulting
with the nurse and physician. It is in your children’s best interest
to not bring them to the hospital. (Refer to the Child Care section
of this booklet for information on our drop-in child care program.)
