A National ORI and OHRP Conference
"Breaking the Barriers of Research: Mentoring and
Human Subjects' Protection"

Hosted by the UAMS Department of Anesthesiology and the UAMS Office of
Research Compliance
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine, the Office of Research
Integrity (ORI) and the Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP)
will be jointly sponsoring the Conference on the
responsibilities of principal investigators, researchers, institutional
review board administrators and members and institutional officials who
are involved in protecting human subjects in research.
The first day will focus on mentoring; the second on human subjects'
protection. Presenters will include members of the UAMS community, the ORI and the OHRP,
as well as research affiliations across the nation:

The conference will target ALL members of the research team, including but
not limited to PIs, sub-investigators, post-docs, coordinators, data managers,
research nurses, pharmacists, data entry personnel and IRB members, with at
least one year of research experience with human subjects. It is important that
all members of the research team receive proper mentoring and education in order
to protect human subjects and ensure the reliability and validity of data.
There will be a "Getting to Know Reception" at the Clinton Library at the end
of the first day of the conference. All conference
faculty and participants are invited to attend a wine and cheese reception and
tour the library at their leisure.

Statement
This activity has been planned and implemented in
accordance with the Essentials and Standards of the Accreditation Council for
Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through joint sponsorship of the UAMS
College of Medicine, the Office Research Integrity, and the Office of Human
Research Protections. The UAMS College of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME
to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
