UAMS has the well-earned reputation of successfully treating the most
difficult and complex cases. Our clinical facilities should match the
superb quality of our care and caregivers. Our hospital and clinics
must be capable of treating patients in the most technically advanced,
caring, and comfortable environment.

The UAMS Medical Center, the state’s leading referral hospital, has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of “America’s Best” every year since 1996. But demand is rapidly overtaking the 50year-old facility. Waiting times plague many patients who urgently need the hospital’s superior care.

A new hospital will bring major improvements such as additional
inpatient and intensive care beds; expanded imaging and laboratory
facilities; the most advanced cardiac care, surgery, intensive care, and
emergency units; and the latest technology and design to allow
medical professionals to collaborate for the best outcomes for the
patient.

The fiscal health and stability of UAMS allowed us to qualify for low-
interest bonds, enabling us to jumpstart construction of a new
hospital. But closing the gap on the price tag of a state-of-the-art
health facility requires additional funds from private sources.
This much-needed project can become a wonderful example of
leveraging a bonding opportunity with philanthropic support to open
up our hospital to those who need us the most.
