JOB EXPECTATIONS FOR
CLINICAL CARE ASSISTANT (CCA) ROLE
Must have completed 1st
semester: Basic Theory/Skills check-off in a state approved registered
nursing school before eligible to apply. Transcript/Grade
Report and CPR Card required for proof of eligibility. Not eligible if within 6 months of graduation.
Sign-up papers must be
completed in Nurse Recruitment before start date (24 hours
notice required). Don’t forget to bring a Driver License &
Social Security Card or Birth Certificate.
Modules must be completed
before reporting to unit. Clinical Service Managers will approve up
to 8 hours Official Leave (OL) time to complete modules in Staff
Education. A six week period is allowed to complete orientation including
required classes (3) and (5) shifts for clinical check-offs or Clinical
Service Manager (CSM) will remove CCA from schedule/position.
To foster professionalism, CCA’s are
hired for a specific unit and required to work every other weekend to
equal a minimum of 16 hours/pay period unless otherwise authorized by the
CSM.
CSM’s are responsible for CCA
scheduling. CCA’s request for schedule changes must be made to the CSM
in writing prior to posting the two week schedule.
CCA’s are expected to fulfill work
commitments on unit of assignment prior to working on other units. The
Staffing Office may be called for available shifts on other units.
Call-ins and cancellations are in
accordance with Department policy (see Employee Handbook).
CCA’s are expected to give two weeks
written notice for resignations. Failure to comply will be
reflected on job references.
CCA’s may transfer after 6 months.
The Nurse Recruitment Office will facilitate transfers based on
availability.
CCA’s will be pulled according to
unit policy.
In an effort to promote professional
growth, CCA’s are expected, when appropriate, to seek out learning
opportunities and communicate needs with staff.
CCA’s will be evaluated after three
months (Probation) and yearly. CCA’s are entitled to receive a promotion
based on annual review.
CCA’s are expected to provide written
proof (Transcript, Grade Report, Registration Form or Formal School
Letter) of student status to CSM within 30 days after the close of each
semester.
CCA position expires on the day of
graduation.

5. TB Skin Test: get on 8th floor hosp.
