The Setting

UAMS Campus

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is a nationally and internationally known center for medical care, education and research. Over 9,000 patients, faculty, students, employees and visitors are on campus on any given day. The UAMS Medical Center is a 400-bed teaching hospital with extensive outpatient clinics and emergency services. We are proud of the wide range of high quality health care services we provide for people from all parts of the state and nation. A particular strength of this center for pastoral learning is that our patients cover the full range of socioeconomic groups of our society.

The Location

Little Rock, a metropolitan area of 250,000 located on the Arkansas River, is at the center of much of the state's governmental, financial, medical, educational and cultural activity. The lakes, rivers and trails of the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains are within easy driving distance.
