Samuel Moore Walton Memorial Chapel

The Samuel Moore Walton Memorial Chapel is located in on the first floor of Ward Tower, room 1E90, at UAMS Medical Center. Ecumenical services at held in the chapel each Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

The chapel serves UAMS Medical Center patients, family members, employees and students as a non-denominational and interfaith "sacred space" for worship, prayer and meditation.

Developed as a project of the UAMS Medical Center Pastoral Care Board, the chapel was funded by a major grant from the Walton Family Foundation, Inc. and gifts from members of the Board. The chapel is named in memory of Sam Walton, founder of Wal-Mart Stores and a long-time member of the Presbyterian Church.

Gene Castin of Stuck Associate Architects designed the chapel that features seating for thirty, a waterfall, and a large stained glass piece by Arkansas artist David Soos.

The Samuel Moore Walton Memorial Chapel was dedicated March 14, 1999. The Reverend Wendell Griffen, Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church and Justice of the Arkansas Court of Appeals, served as guest speaker. Special music was provided by the Madrigal Choir of Parkview High School for the Arts and Sciences.
