The UAMS Medical Center Auxiliary is committed to providing for the needs of the patients and visitors of the UAMS Medical Center. Part of that commitment includes giving back to programs and departments on campus that are doing work that directly promotes, improves and advances the welfare, health and comfort of the patients of UAMS.
In 2007 alone, the Auxiliary gave over $70,000 to the UAMS community. This money provided some of the following things:
- Blanket warmers for patients in the endoscopy lab;
- Newspapers for long-term patients on the mother/baby unit;
- A new fetal heart monitor;
- Car seats and car beds for new parents; and
- A Therapeutic Harpist practicing complementary care for patients.
Everyday the Auxiliary funds clothing and materials for patients who would otherwise have no comforts of home during their hospital stay. In the past year, the Auxiliary, along with the CARE program, started a new program giving admission bags to every new patient. The bags contain necessary toiletry items at no charge to patients.
The work of the Auxiliary would not be possible without our active membership and steadfast volunteers. Join us as we strive to expand the world-class care available at the UAMS Medical Center!
