In January our thoughts naturally turn to new beginnings and resolutions to do things differently in the coming year. As we approach the opening of the new hospital in early 2009, the Auxiliary has set a course for the future. These goals include increased membership, increased fundraising efforts ad more effective communication with our membership. The Auxiliary is taking steps in each of these areas.
A luncheon celebrating “The Restorative Power of Music” is another new initiative which supports our focus on complementary approaches to healing. The luncheon is scheduled for March 19 at the Capital Hotel. Reservations are $50 per person and space is limited. Co-chairs Marilee Bass and Polly Glotzbach have organized a fabulous luncheon event that will offer delights to please your aural, visual and gustatory sense. Please call 686-5656 to make a reservation.
Two highlights from the past year include: eighty-two volunteers contributed their time, energy and skills to ensure the success of the Aromatique fundraising event; and, in addition to the honorific element of the Tree Lights Campaign, funds were raised. Almost 1,000 people were honored or remembered through a donation by someone who cared.
As the UAMS Medical Center expands, the UAMS Auxiliary is meeting the challenge to find additional ways to serve the patients, their families and friends, and the staff. As you plan where you will spend your time and talents during 2008, consider the difference you could make to the UAMS Medical center community and the Auxiliary. |
