How do you determine if I am eligible to participate in a research study?
Most research studies require a brief conversation over the phone where you likely will be asked questions about your pregnancy, your child’s health and your child’s diet—we call this our screening process. Some questions may be personal but all information will be kept strictly confidential and will only be shared with investigators to determine your eligibility. Once a decision has been made, we will let you know if you and your child are eligible to participate in one of our research studies.
I screened for a study and was told I did not qualify. Does that mean I am doing something wrong?
No! Most of our studies have strict entry criteria and, because of that, we often have families who are eager to participate but, unfortunately, do not qualify. However, our criteria rules are set so that our participants resemble one another as closely as possible. If you end up not qualifying for one study, don’t worry about it! Let us know if you are interested in other studies and we would be happy to screen you for them!
Where do participants park when they attend study visits?
Arkansas Children’s Nutrition Center is lucky to have its very own designated parking lot right in front of our building! That means participants may arrive on the day of their visit and come straight into the building without the hassle of finding a parking spot!
Where are you located?
Arkansas Children’s Nutrition Center is located on the campus of Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. Our building is on the corner of Marshall and 13th Streets. Click here for a map and directions.
Can you tell me what kind of diet I need to be feeding my child?
While our staff is highly trained in the field of nutrition, we are not able to give you advice about how to feed your child or any other kind of medical advice. For those concerns, please contact your physician or contact the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Clinical Nutrition Department at (501)364-1264.
